A little bit about me. I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I was recruited on campus, one of the 7 people even before I had finished my college degree. I had a perfectly well paid job back in my country. I was being paid close to a million rupees per year. I was not happy because I had a bad manager. I quit "that" job and came to UK without job.

I found 3 jobs within 2 months of landing here. A job which paid me 32000/year in London, another which paid me 34000/year in Southampton and another which paid me 43000/year in London. I took the third job and I have just finished 8 months in the job. I have subscribed to the Cine World unlimited card and I watch quite a bit of cinema. My parents are more than supportive, they do not ask me for money nor are there any commitments such as loans or health issues for them. I have an elder brother who is married and settled in Singapore. Basically, no complaints in life as such. Anybody would ideally kill for a life like the one that I have.

My problem.

I used to be good back then. But of late, probably the last couple of years I am unable to concentrate. I am not able to read beyond a couple of pages of any book, let alone technical books. I psyche myself of doing things which I am not capable of. For instance, while walking to the tube, I think of a bridge hand that my dad played and think as though I was the one who played that hand. I know it is stupid but that is what I do. I escape into a world where I am far more successful than what I currently am.

Now, at work…it is not going to be long before people identify that as a result of my failing to learn / upgrade my skills, I am not as capable as I used to be. I can, of course, quit here and find myself another job or take up a contracting job (although, my confidence level is low right now).

I know that all it requires is a change in my heart to become better. I know it all. But I am not able to do it. It is a bit like being addicted to drugs. I know drugs are bad for me. I know if I quit drugs, I will have a better life, real joy, more happiness etc., but I am just not able to let go of them. The only difference being, the drug is in my mind where I psyche myself.

Is this a medical problem? Is there no solution? I spoke to my dad whom I think is the best man in the world. He says, some people are probably destined for a life like this and so nothing can be done. In due course of time your failures will become more prominent and you will not be able to escape to your imagined world. I ask you, if that were to be the case, why should I live? Why can't I end my life now and sign out on a high – A well paid job in hand.

PS: I am single. I do not have a girl friend as such (because, I am not too interested in one). I speak a bit harsh.

Right. Correct me if I am wrong but this is what I understand. The IMF is an organisation made up of many countries. They give loans to countries who are defaulting on their debts and demand crazy interest (a bailout?). So when said defaulting country gets its bailout money, what do they spend it on?

And seeing as the UK is tossing another 20 billion pounds into the fund, and that is technically our input of the bailout, does the UK actually ever see that money again or the interest that the country owes (even though it's incredibly unlikely that they would ever pay I back) or would it just be put back into the IMF's bank account?

I'm really getting interested in this sort of thing so some serious answers would be great. Thank.

I know it's a little morbid, and is probably covered in the contract policy. But I was never one for reading the fine print. I was just wondering if the repayment of a student loan (UK) had to be paid back by the legal guardian/next of kin if something unfortunate happened to the student who took out the loan?

a friend told me his father in law helped him out and his daughter to buy a house, he got a loan from the bank to be used for the downpayments.
i am no familiar with the laws in UK but he told me the loan is not repayable back until they resell the house.

has anyone heard of this before?
