Really complicated question. I am in my second year of my undergraduate course. My parents have bought a house and but it in a trust for my brother and i. The trust states that the house is for me to rent rooms out of (with me living there too) and i can use the rental income to cover the household bills and my own cost of living.
This is the question. I want to take get a student maintainance loan, but i dont want my parents to know about it. (Its for personal reasons which i am not going to go into.) I know that i can get the loan no problem because they are not means assessed for the small amount. But what i am asking is, will this affect the tax free rental income i am getting from the house. Will the loan have to be declared on any tax returns ect? My parents take a bank statement from me every month for tax reasons. Please help.
